The Role of the Modern American Journalist
In the age of Internet Streaming and social media, the relevance of Journalism is put into question. While the means of which news is obtained is changing, the importance of the American Journalist is not.
With the majority of America constantly connected to a feed, the need for fast-paced and competent Journalism is in demand. Journalists today must be hyper-aware of current events in order to satisfy their audience.
Findings by Professors Lars Willnat and David H. Weaver of Indiana University, have shown that journalist rely heavily on social media in order to keep up with rapid updates. Additionally, with a 32% downgrade of the workforce, journalists are expected to be efficient and adaptive to the new medium of communication.
While the consumerism of physical newspapers is in decline, journalists today serve the American public by ensuring that they have access to immediate information in the technological age.
