The PR Connection
I think that despite the flack P.R. Specialists get for their work, journalists are reliant on the information that they provide. I agree with the statement said in class, that it is like a symbiotic relationship, they truly do need each other. I don't know per say if there is a positive or negative relationship between the two currently, but bitter interactions will only hurt themselves because the final news story will suffer without what one could provide for the other. It's in both party's interest to act with professionalism and work together to get the news. And while P.R. might slip around certain areas to keep the image of their employer, that is their job. The journalist should be the one investigating and getting both sides of the story to get a fair article done anyway.
